How we make money
Some of the dealers we compare run affiliate programmes. When you click through to one of those dealers from this site and go on to buy, the dealer may pay us a commission. You pay exactly the same price either way — the commission comes out of the dealer’s margin, not your pocket.
Not every dealer has such an arrangement, and we compare dealers who do not pay us alongside those who do, on identical terms.
What commission does not affect
This is the part that matters, so it is worth being concrete.
- Ranking. Offers are ordered by total acquisition cost. Commission is not an input to that calculation.
- Badges. “Lowest total cost”, “Lowest premium” and every other badge are derived from price and freshness alone.
- Deal Score. The four components are documented on our methodology page. Commission is not one of them and must never become one.
- Inclusion. Dealers are not listed because they pay us, and not excluded because they do not.
This is enforced structurally rather than by policy alone. Affiliate data lives in a separate part of the system from the pricing engine, and the ranking code has no access to it. An automated test ranks the same offers with affiliate status reversed and fails if the order changes.
Sponsored placements
Our database can support clearly-labelled sponsored placements. The feature is currently disabled and nothing on this site is sponsored. If that ever changes, sponsored content will be visibly marked as such and will never be mixed into the organic ranking.
How to tell
Every dealer profile states our relationship with that dealer explicitly, including when there is none. Outbound links carry rel="nofollow sponsored".
What we record when you click
When you follow a link to a dealer we record that a click happened, which product and dealer it was for, whether the link was affiliated, and a coarse device type. We do not record your IP address, your account, or your browser fingerprint. See our privacy notice.
